I'm sharing one of my biggest secrets with you... are you ready? This pound cake recipe is famous in our apartment. Long story short, no matter who makes this recipe or where they make it, its becomes a family favorite. It all started many years ago... (Que dream cloud bubble) when I had this pound cake at a friends house in high school. It was the only pound cake I had ever had and wanted more. It's nothing like that cloyingly sweet and spongy slice of "old fashioned" pound cake that comes in a plastic sleeve. I was pleasantly surprised. How could pound cake this good? After a while of always asking for the cake, my friends mom taught me how to make it myself.
Since then, I have passed to recipe along to whomever had eaten it and loved it. My mother now makes it at least once a month for my father who is obsessed. I have friends who have tasted it and requested it whenever they come over. I have even passed the recipe on to neighbors because they can smell it cooking and "have to try it." So now it's time for it to be shared with the world. Or... you beautiful blog readers.
Now this pound cake couldn't be easier to remember. Its just 2+2+2+2+5. 2 sticks of butter, 2 cups of sugar, 2 tsp vanilla, 2 cups of flour, and 5 eggs. Couldn't be more simple.
You can get fancy and sprinkle some powdered sugar over the top or just leave it plain. My dad loves to toast it in the toaster for breakfast. I personally love it with a dollop or yogurt or whipped cream and fresh berries. Let us know how you like to enjoy your pound cake in the comments below!
