Big change is coming! The good kind, the kind we all need.

I know its probably been pretty noticeable that I have been distant from engaging on social media and even less frequently posting new recipes, #foragingreal tips and adventures along the way. This has been intentional. And it's finally time for me to let you all know the truth...

The Concrete Forager Logo

An ALL NEW Concrete Forager website is almost ready to launch! This new logo is my first reveal to many many changes I have been working on to make The Concrete Forager brand more useful, informative and attainable.

Change is for so much more than just a change of scenery or re-branded design. With all that has happened in the world around us in the passed year, the start to my business in 2017 seems like lightyears ago. And man do those years show when looking at my outdated website graphics and set up. Not only was original website the love child of all my passions and dedication to shining light on our flawed food/agriculture system. But it was mainly a space created to hold pages and pages of my passionate writing of how I want to make a difference in the world... but you know what it didn't really do? It didn't show half of what I do on a regular basis to make those changes come to fruition! Nor did it show the transparency about how building a business was supported by holding multiple jobs to carry to financial weight of building something new from the ground up.

I am tired of the false façade lifestyles and fluffy content floating around making people believe that entrepreneurship, business owning, following your dreams and otherwise is all that people do and its just so easily attainable. For the most part, it definitely is not. There'd bills to be paid, dishes to be cleaned, people to take care of, you to take care of, life to navigate, commitments to hold up to and so much more in everyone's everyday life... but most people are just showing you their "highlight reel" and none of the bloopers or behind the scenes action that gets them there. THIS will no longer be how I do things. It's about time for me to #levelup

Since the beginning, the goal has never changed; Get the word out there to make people think before they consume. To educate on where your food comes from and how it was treated before getting to your kitchen. We need to get back to our roots so humans can eat real food again, naturally grown or harvested humanely right from the planet that were created to live upon. Paying attention to what you put into your body so you can not only feel your best, perform your best, but most importantly control what you put into your body. With that awareness, we can make huge changes to the flawed industrial agriculture system that is destroying our planet and misconstrued food system that was created to feed the masses, not nourish peoples bodies with what they need. If we all eat better, we feel better, if we make our own (of grow/harvest our own) from scratch , we will gain back all the control, if we grow/harvest our own and buy better, we will waste less, and if we waste less, we will make a huge dent in changing the world! Just taking it one bite at a time.

In trying to find my voice in the culinary business, I found myself working many different fields within the field to find where I could make the biggest impact. And in doing so I learned and took in enough knowledge I was able to turn my 9 to 5 and freelance gigs into my own business! I have multifaceted company that brings me joy every day of my life. I teach cooking classes and the #foragingreal way of life, I spend a lot of time developing and testing recipes to put out there for people to make their own food from real food, I develop and test recipes for some of the best companies who are also striving do bigger and better, I photograph food as well as small business services so I can use my expertise to help more people grow their thoughtful businesses to new heights, I create content and write copy for brands who need help building their portfolio and social media for marketing and all things in-between. These are the pieces to the Concrete Forager puzzle.

So now, instead of managing a place for randomized information about food, there is a place to go to find me for my services, hire me for what you need, book and pay for cooking classes in one place, find recipes to print/screenshot with out the annoying scrolling or pop up ads and a place where we can build up our tribe and share, comment, post, engage, and make friends with more like minded new friends! All the things my business has evolved into, all in one fresh new place. Goodbye outdated blog, hello new and improved business model!

KARA'S
COOKING TIPS

#1

Recipes are never rules!

Use your judgment; if you've made it before and it has worked by shaking not stirring, try it! If the recipe says something will brown after 12 minutes in the oven and your's hasn't browned yet, leave it until you think its brown enough.

#2

Taste, taste, taste!

Any good chef will tell you to taste your food multiple times as you cook. Stick your spoon in and see if it tastes good. Is your food seasoned well? Can it use more salt or pepper? Would you like it if it were a bit sweeter? Everyone's palate is different, if you think it needs something; Go for it!

Remember

Its just food... so have some fun!
